Flood Hazard and Risk Zonation in North Bihar Using Satellite-Derived Historical Flood Events and Socio-Economic Data

چکیده
North Bihar is one of the most flood-affected regions India. Frequent flooding caused significant loss life and severe economic damages. In this study, hydroclimatic conditions historical flood events during period 2001 to 2020 were coupled over different basins in Bihar. The main objective study assess severity floods by estimating hazards, vulnerability risk uniqueness at village level as no such was performed earlier. Other thematic data, namely, land-use drainage networks, also utilised with maps validate event. MOD09A1 satellite data (during 2001–2020) derived indices used derive inundation extents frequency. Socio-economic (SEV) based on seven census parameters (i.e., population density, house-hold literacy rate, agricultural labour, cultivator, total male, female) hazard region. exhibited that a ~34% geographical area inundated last 20 years maximum extent seen 2020. Flood map ~7%, ~8%, ~13%, ~4%, ~2% mapped under Very High, Moderate, Low, Low categories, respectively. 2770 3535 number villages categorized High zone which are located north-central central-western regions. These findings can be applied distinguish classify areas various zones assist mitigation management activities.

Flood Hazard Assessment Using Panchromatic Satellite Imagery
Panchromatic (PAN) satellite imagery has been used successfully in different applications such as topographic mapping and terrain modelling. Nevertheless, PAN imagery is still one of the less used digital sources for land-change studies except few processes where the high-resolution of the PAN images is used to improve the visualization quality of the multi-spectral images. This research aimed ...
متن کاملFlood Risk from Extreme Events
There is increasing evidence that more frequent flooding resulting from increases in the frequency and intensity of storms are likely to be one consequence of anthropogenic climate change in many parts of the world including the United Kingdom. Flooding in the UK is currently a major and costly environmental hazard with annual damage from floods of around £1 billion at present levels of protect...

accelerated process of urbanization and global warming make urban flood one of the most important issues in urban planning. tehran recently has been affected by the flooding and its damages. high intensity rainfall and uncontrolled urban development and main inefficient networks of drainage system are the main reasons. this research uses an efficient approach for flood hazard assessment in tehr...
متن کاملFlood Hazard Mapping using Aster Image data with GIS
Flood is one of the most devastating natural hazards which lead to the loss of lives, properties and resources. It has therefore become important to create easily read, rapidly accessible flood hazard map, which will prioritize the mitigation effects. This study addresses the need for an efficient and cost-effective methodology for preparing flood hazard maps in Ghana, particularly those region...
